Security Cameras in Bonita Isle
Over this past summer, the Bonita Isle Homeowners Association installed new security cameras in the gate area. There are several cameras trained on the entrance drive, the exit drive, and the island area outside the gate on Ouachita* Drive. Some of y'all may have seen me standing on a ladder, strapped to the various poles around the gate, hanging the security cameras.
There is also a DVR that records the video feed from these cameras so we are able to examine the vehicles that come and go and capture the license plates. Rare as it would probably be, if a resident of Bonita Isle were to suffer a burglary or some other crime, please notify the board immediately (in addition to other authorities) so that we may examine the video recordings.
The DVR holds only 3-4 days of history so we'd need to know pretty soon after an event took place in order to examine and export the relevant recordings. There's no guarantee the video log will definitely contain actionable information but it's certainly worth looking at if the need arose. Examining the video log does entail some amount of work so we request that you ask for examination only if an actual crime has occurred. Any board member can examine the video logs.
Mostly, the cameras are used to find the responsible party whenever the gate or swing arm is damaged, such as from someone following an authorized vehicle through the gate or carelessly navigating the driveway and running into the gate, the swing arm, or other operational infrastructure.
* BTW, I heard a new pronunciation for Ouachita, looked it up, and confirmed it. Me and many people I know have been pronouncing Ouachita as "wah-CHEE-tuh". That is incorrect as I've just learned. The correct pronunciation is "WOSH-u-ta" (short e) or "WAH-shi-ta" (short i). Whichever pronunciation key helps the most.
